The Friends of the Gaylord Library are sponsoring the sixth Basket Auction and Author Night at the Gaylord Public Library Monday.
A “Potluck Paradise Buffet” supper and silent auction will be held from 5:30 – 7 p.m. The suggested donation for the meal is $7 for adults and $3 for children.
The public is invited to submit bids on approximately 50 themed baskets. Bidding started Sept. 14 and will conclude Monday at 7 p.m. Proceeds from the event will support the library’s programs and services.
After the meal and basket auction, award winning Minnesota authors of Potluck Paradise, Rae Katherine Eighmey and Debbie Miller will be speaking at 7:30 p.m.
Eighmey is a food historian and author. In her four cookbooks, she has adapted 19th and 20th Century Midwestern recipes for modern kitchens and presents them with a historical perspective.
Miller is a Minnesota historian, a cookbook collector, and an enthusiastic amateur home cook. She has donated more than 1,200 cookbooks to the Minnesota Historical Society library and has published articles on Norwegian-American cookbooks, women’s history, and Midwestern history. She has co-authored two books.
Author signing and books will be available for purchase at the event.
