Waffle Breakfast

Gaylord’s Ambulance Service will be hosting its all-you-can-eat waffle breakfast Sunday at the Gaylord Legion Club. Serving is from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The public is invited.

The menu includes Belgian waffles, sausage links, a variety of syrups, butter, whipped cream, and beverages.

Advance tickets are available at First National Bank Minnesota, Jerry’s Home Quality Foods, Jon’s Amoco, That Special Touch, City Hall, and from ambulance staff members.

Advance tickets are $7 for adults. Tickets at the door are $8 for adults, $3.50 for children 6-12. Children five and under are free.

Take outs are available. Supplemental funds have been applied for from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

EMS Building Open House

The Gaylord Ambulance Service and Gaylord Police Department will be displaying their new offices Saturday.

An open house of the City’s new Emergency Medical Services building will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited.

A flag raising ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. A rollover simulator and Life Link III helicopter will be displayed. Refreshments will be served.

Gaylord Ambulance and Police moved into the 4,000 square foot facility in February. It was constructed by E.J. Pinske Builders of Gaylord.

Memorial Day – Gaylord

Gaylord’s Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post and Auxiliary will lead the Memorial Day program in Gaylord. The program will be held at the Veterans’ Memorial in the City Park at 10 a.m. The public is invited. Bring your own lawn chairs.

The Rev. Fredric Hinz of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord, will be the featured speaker.

Francis Lawrenz, William Greve, and the late James Deis will be presented certificates for 50 years of membership in the American Legion. The Sibley East Junior High Band will play patriotic selections.

In case of inclement weather, the Memorial Day observance will be held in the Legion Auditorium.

Prior to the Gaylord program, Memorial Day observances will be held by the Gaylord squad at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at 9 a.m. and Norwegian Grove Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.

Memorial Day – New Auburn

New Auburn VFW Post 7266 and its Ladies Auxiliary will lead a Memorial Day program at 11 a.m. at High Island Cemetery. Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs.

A welcome will be given by VFW Post Commander Willard Grack. An invocation will be provided by Anthony Deno.

Lisa Klenk, Sibley County’s Veterans Service Officer, will be the featured speaker.

Musical selections will be provided by Glencoe-Silver Lake High School students.

VFW Post members will provide a symbolic tribute. Phyllis Schwanke, Auxiliary president, will place a wreath. The roll call of deceased veterans will be read by Amy Eustis, Post Chaplain.

A military tribute will be provided by the New Auburn VFW rifle squad. Taps will be played by Glencoe-Silver Lake High School students.
