Linda Tiegs, age 61, of Mankato, formerly of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato. Funeral services were held Friday, April 22, 2011, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord. The Rev. Bill Nelsen officiated.
Linda Rene (Luckow) Tiegs was born on November 12, 1949, in Gaylord. She was the daughter of Wallace and Meta (Trout) Luckow. Linda was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord. Linda received her education in Gaylord.
Linda was a long time resident of Gaylord and in 2003 she moved into the Durham Apartments in Mankato. She suffered a stroke at the age of 51.
Linda had been employed at Fingerhut in Gaylord and Hands, Inc. in Winthrop. She was a loving mother and homemaker.
Linda enjoyed dancing, listening to music, going for drives, out to dinner with family and friends, drawing, fabric work, pressing flowers, shopping, playing cards, collecting blown glass, and she loved movies. She had a great sense of humor, was caring and would give her last dollar to anyone who needed it. She was known as “Ma” to everyone. She was a great listener and anyone could come to her for advice. Her favorite saying was “Things had to get worse before they get better.” Linda cherished her family and wanted to be a part of their life. For the past three years, she had her cockatiel, Radio. She loved teaching Radio words and taking of care of her “baby.” She loved taking care of and watching her grandson, Mac.
Linda passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato at the age of 61 years. Blessed be her memory.
Linda is survived by her children, Troy Tiegs and his fiancée, Kelly Schaetzer of Green Bay, WI, and Rena Tiegs of North Mankato; grandson, Mac; brother, Bob Luckow and his wife, Joyce of Oak Park; step-father, Harvey Doerr of Gaylord; father of the children, Jerry Tiegs of Glencoe; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her Parents, Wallace and Meta Luckow.
