Kenneth Bull – 89

Kenneth W. Bull, age 89, of Gaylord, died at his home, Saturday, April 16 2011.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30, 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Gaylord. Interment will be in High Island Cemetery, New Auburn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the family.

Kenneth Wayne Bull was born June 19, 1921 in Wells. The son of Allen and Luretta (Crowell) Bull, Ken was the eldest of four children. Ken was educated at Gaylord High School and graduated in 1939. Following service in the Merchant Marines, he furthered his education at the University of Minnesota and the St. Paul College of Law.

Ken was united in marriage to Jeanne Anna Utendorfer on September 23, 1942, in Gaylord. Following WWII, they lived their entire life in Gaylord. They had five children, and shared 63 years of marriage until Jeanne’s death in 2006. Ken was active in Rotary and the state judiciary and served as District Court Judge of the First Judicial District until his retirement at age 66. Ken loved to hunt, fish and travel, but his true passion was golf.

Ken was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was blessed with ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

When Ken needed help with his daily care, he moved to the Golden Living Center in Franklin. As his health declined further, he went back home to Gaylord, and under the care of home hospice spent his last days there.

Ken was preceded in death by his sister Mildred (age 3 years), his parents, and his wife Jeanne.

He is survived by his five children, Nancy Bull of Randolph, Jay Bull and wife Cheryl, Blaine, James Bull of Rochester, Rhonda Sonnek of Rosemount, and Julie Fuller of New Richland. He is also survived by his brother Gerald (Gretchen) Bull of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and his sister, Trellis (Louis) Sylvester of Coos Bay, Ore., ten grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren, nieces and nephew.
