Darrel Frauendienst Sr., 63, of Gaylord, husband of Diane, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington. Memorial Services were held Saturday, March 5, 2011, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord. The Rev. Bill Nelsen officiated.
Darrel Elmer Frauendienst, Sr. was born on April 15, 1947, in Gaylord. He was the son of Elmer and Esther (Alsleben) Frauendienst. Darrel was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. He received his education in Arlington.
On March 22, 1971, Darrel was united in marriage to Diane Kahlow in Milbank, South Dakota. After their marriage, the couple resided in Gaylord. He farmed for 20 years, and worked in construction until 1973, when he purchased Gaylord Sanitation. Darrel and Diane were blessed with three children. They shared 39 years of marriage.
Darrel was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord.
Darrel enjoyed working, hunting deer, and fishing years ago. He also loved crop farming.
Darrel is survived by his: wife, Diane (Kahlow) Frauendienst of Gaylord; children, Roger Frauendienst and his wife, Jolie of Foley, Darrel Frauendienst, Jr. and his wife, Rachael of Gaylord, and LaRenda Wibstad and her husband, Jess of Gaylord; eight grandchildren, Heidi Frauendienst, Haley Frauendienst, Austin Frauendienst, Branton Wibstad, Amber Frauendienst, Tyler Wibstad, Alex Frauendienst, Roger Frauendienst, Jr.; mother, Esther Frauendienst of Gaylord; twin brother, Dale Frauendienst; sisters-in-law, Barb Frauendienst of Gaylord, MaryLou Brenke of Albert Lea, and Judy Wendorff and her special friend, Harold Holicky of Gaylord; brother-in-law, Jim Kahlow and his wife, Pat of Le Sueur; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Darrel was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Frauendienst; sister, Lois Milbrandt; and brother, Larry Frauendienst.
