Rubie Uecker, age 89 of Gaylord, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington. Funeral Services were Tues., Jan. 25, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County, with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Harold Storm officiated. Cross bearer was Lila Tschida, and honorary casket bearers were Anita, Autumn, Lindsey, Jessica, Joshua, Noah. Casket bearers were Keith Lendt, Ross Lendt, Paul Tschida, Larry Uecker, Dan Uecker, Paul Uecker.
Rubie Hermina Anna (Rose) Uecker was born on November 9, 1921, in Winthrop. She was the daughter of William and Bertha (Bubolz) Rose. Rubie was baptized as an infant at home, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 14, 1935, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. She received her education in Winthrop and at Dryden Township Parochial School.
On August 15, 1948, Rubie was united in marriage to Orville Uecker at the St. John’s Lutheran Parsonage, Mountville. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Dryden Township. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Rubie and Orville shared 62 years of marriage before Orville passed away on January 13, 2011. They were blessed with three daughters.
Rubie was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She had a very strong faith, which she instilled to her children.
Rubie especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid reader. She also enjoyed her flower gardens, crafts, cross word puzzles and word search games, watching the Minnesota Twins, her cats and dogs, helping on the farm, bird watching, cooking and making cream-style corn.
When she needed more assistance with her daily care, Rubie became a resident of the Oak Terrace Health Care Center on December 19, 2010, and passed away at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington on Friday, January, 21, 2011, at the age of 89 years. Blessed be her memory.
Rubie is survived by her daughters, LeAnn Lendt and her husband, Charles of Sleepy Eye, Debra Uecker and her husband, Dale Englert of New Hope, MN, and Kathleen McClure and her husband, Robert of Plymouth; grandchildren, Anita (Jon) Riederer, Keith (Sarah) Lendt, Autumn (Mike) Gode, Ross (Kristen) Lendt, Lindsey McClure, Jessica McClure, Joshua Englert and Noah Englert; great-grandchildren, Abbie and Zachary Riederer, Carmen and Isaac Lendt, and Grace, Charlie and William Lendt; sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Lloyd Lipke of Glencoe; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Milton and Ruth Uecker of Glencoe, Milo and Jackie Uecker of Bird Island; Lydia Uecker of Gaylord, and Bernette Uecker of Green Isle; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rubie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha Rose; husband, Orville Uecker; brothers-in-law, Ruben Uecker, Wallace Uecker, Henry Uecker, Jr., LeRoy Uecker; sisters-in-law, Carol Uecker and Corrine Uecker; nephews, Ronald and David Uecker.
