Orville Uecker, age 89 of Gaylord, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011, at the Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord. Funeral Services were held Sun., Jan. 16, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County, with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Harold Storm officiated.
Orville William Louis Uecker was born on December 15, 1921, in Dryden Township, Sibley County. He was the son of Henry F. Sr. and Anna (Beich) Uecker. Orville was baptized as an infant at his home on December 25, 1921, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 14, 1935, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville. He received his education at District 18 Country School in Dryden Township.
On August 15, 1948, Orville was united in marriage to Rubie Rose at the Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage in Gaylord. The couple farmed in Dryden Township. Orville and Rubie shared 62 years of marriage and were blessed with three daughters.
Orville was a life time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he served as an Elder and in various offices and committees. Religion was very important to him.
Orville enjoyed farming, deer hunting, fishing, and chopping wood. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Orville is survived by his wife, Rubie Uecker of Gaylord; daughters, LeAnn Lendt and her husband, Charles of Sleepy Eye, Debra Uecker and her husband, Dale Englert of New Hope, and Kathleen McClure and her husband, Robert of Plymouth; grandchildren, Anita Riederer and her husband, Jon, Keith Lendt and his wife, Sarah, Autumn Gode and her husband, Mike, Ross Lendt and his wife, Kristen, Lindsey McClure, Jessica McClure, Joshua Englert and Noah Englert; great-grandchildren, Abbie and Zachary Riederer, Carmen and Isaac Lendt, and Grace, Charlie and William Lendt; brothers, Milton Uecker and his wife, Ruth of Glencoe, and Milo Uecker and his wife, Jackie of Bird Island; sisters-in-law, Lydia Uecker of Gaylord, Bernette Uecker of Green Isle, Corrine Uecker of Gaylord, and Audrey Lipke and her husband, Lloyd of Glencoe; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Anna Uecker; brothers, Ruben Uecker, Wallace Uecker, Henry Uecker, Jr., LeRoy Uecker; sister-in-law, Carol Uecker; and nephews Ronald Uecker and David Uecker.
