Gaylord Mayor Doug Quast announced Tuesday that he would not be seeking re-election.
Quast has served as mayor for six years. In a letter to Gaylord residents, Quast stated that he decided not to seek office because of new opportunities in his career.
Filing closes Tuesday at 5 p.m. for City, school board, and township officials.
As of Tuesday, only one candidate had filed for Gaylord City Council. In New Auburn, two have filed for New Auburn City Council and one has filed for mayor. Two candidates had filed for the Sibley East Board of Education.
In Gaylord, Jessica Uecker filed for a four-year term on the City Council. She will be completing her first, four-year term the end of the year.
There are three council seats and the mayor’s seat that will be filled at the general election November 2.
Rebecca Brockoff has filed for a four-year term on the New Auburn City council. Doug Munsch filed for the two-year term on the City Council. Long-time mayor Roger Becker has filed for re-election. There are two, four-year terms and one two-year term, along with the mayor’s position, that will be filled at the general election.
Anne Karl and Dan Woehler have filed for four-year terms on the Sibley East Board of Education. Both are incumbents. Three, four-year terms and one, two-year term will be filled at the general election.
