SE soccer players will have the chance to get their kicks again
August 5th, 2010Out with the old, and in with the new. Sibley East’s Board of Education, Monday, dissolved a one-year-old cooperative sponsorship agreement to offer soccer with Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (GFW) and Glencoe-Silver Lake School Districts. Sibley East had to approve dissolving the three-district cooperative because GFW had chosen to withdraw from cooperatively sponsoring the program.
However, Sibley East students will continue to have the opportunity to play soccer as a school sport in Grades 7-12. The Board of Education unanimously approved cooperatively sponsoring soccer with Glencoe-Silver Lake. Last year, Sibley East had 14 boys and two girls participate.
In other business, the Board of Education:
• Hired Stephanie Bandas as an Early Childhood Family Education teacher and Todd Iverson as B squad boys basketball coach
• Accepted an anonymous $1,000 donation for elementary SMART board speakers.
• Approved the 2010-2011 student handbooks.
