Two Sibley County Commissioner seats will be the only local races on the Primary Election ballot August 10.
Voters will narrow the field of candidates to two for each race.
Seven candidates have filed for Fourth District County Commissioner. The candidates are Mark Alsleben, Ricky Buboltz, Joy Cohrs, Steve Gillaspie, Kathi Gruenhagen, Catherine Lorenz and Luayn Murphy. All voters in the City of Green Isle and New Auburn, and the townships of Bismarck, Grafton, Green Isle, Moltke, New Auburn and Transit vote for candidates in County Commissioner District 4. The seat is being vacated by Charlie Woehler at the end of the year.
Three candidates have filed for First District County Commissioners. They are incumbent Lee Anderly, Morris Lieske, and Jim Nytes. All voters in the City of Henderson, and the townships of Faxon, Henderson, Jessenland, and Washington Lake vote for candidates on County Commissioner District 1.
All County residents will have the opportunity to vote for federal, state, and judicial offices. Voters must cast their ballot for candidates of one political party.
Polling places in all seven Sibley County cities, and Arlington, Green Isle, Henderson, Jessenland, Moltke and Washington Lake Townships will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Faxon Township residents will vote at St. John’s Hall in rural Belle Plaine from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Severance Township residents will vote at the Gibbon Community Center from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Polls will be open for Alfsborg, Bismarck, Cornish, Dryden, Grafton, Kelso, New Auburn, Sibley and Transit Townships from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
