A rural Arlington farmer, Pat Klaers, is hospitalized at Hennepin County Medical Center after being pinned under an auger Monday afternoon.
According to the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office, Patrick Klaers, 43, was pinned in the seat of his John Deere tractor by a grain auger that had tipped. The accident, which happened at the Klaers’ residence located four miles south of Arlington, was reported by Klaers’ 13-year-old son.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that Klaers had been cutting grass with a tractor and a flail chopper. With the loader of the tractor elevated, Klaers backed up and the bucket of the loader struck the auger which eventually tipped and pinned him in the tractor seat.
The auger was raised from the tractor, and Klaers was taken by Life Link helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center with unknown injuries.
Arlington Ambulance, Arlington Fire and Rescue, Sibley County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Patrol assisted at the scene.
