Sibley East’s Board of Education, Monday, approved a resolution for the termination and non-renewal of a contract for Jane Steinborn, a probation Early Childhood Family Education teacher. Steinborn’s contact was terminated at the close of the 2009-2010 school year.
In other business, the Board of Education:
• Hired Courtney Bergstrom as high school science teacher; Tracie Bjorklund as Junior High/Senior High FACS and health occupations teacher; Katie Boehne, second grade in Gaylord; Mike Feterl, head boys basketball coach; Jayne Ihrke, payroll/assistant human resources; Chad Johnson, high school social students and head wrestling coach; Joy Kempenich, elementary special education teacher; Nathan Kube, elementary special education teacher; and Melissa Laumeyer and Rene Moriarity as co-head tennis coaches.
• Accepted the resignations of Mary Jo Boehning, elementary special education teacher; Joshua Hill, high school counselor; and Luci Stoeckman, basketball cheerleading advisor.
• Accepted education grants from Mary Doyscher – $300 scholarship for online teaching course, Minnesota Valley Electric Co-op – $1.000 for corn plot/vegetable garden, Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council – $5,525 for corn plot/vegetable garden, and Second Harvest Heartland – $1,350 for summer food service program
• Accepted donations from Cable Communications Commission – $11,989.66 for media equipment; ProGrowth Bank – $900 for activities department popcorn machine; Green Isle American Legion Post 408- $400 to high school board; Seneca Foods Corporation – $175 to reading counts; Michael Foods, Inc. – $100 to DECA; Don Sauter – Terry Redlin framed print to school carnival; Mardy Widman – clothing props to drama department
