Michael Bullert spun a two hit shutout Monday to lead Sibley East’s Legion baseballers to a 2-0 victory over Mayer at Gaylord’s Walsh Field.

Mayer managed only a first inning single and a fourth inning double off Bullert. Sibley East’s defense meanwhile played an error free game behind Bullert. Catcher McKoy Rodning highlighted defensive action by throwing out a runner attempting to steal second base in the fourth inning.

Walks followed by hits enabled Sibley East to plate runs in the second and third frames.

Lucas Herd smacked a grand slam and scored three runs Monday to highlight Sibley East’s 11-0 victory over Mayer.

Sibley East plated two runs in the first inning and two runs in the second frame. The black and gold then exploded for seven runs in the third frame. Herd homered in the at-bat while Ed Reichenbach, Ben Melsha and Kyle Goetsch contributed singles.

Goetsch was also the winning pitcher. Complete statistics were not available but Goetsch struckout eight through the first three innings.

A League “A” shootout Friday went in favor of Sibley East as the black and gold tripped Norwood 9-7 in Green Isle.

Norwood would eventually take a 7-6 advantage only to have Sibley East score three times in the bottom of the fifth inning. Rodning delivered the game winning hit. His single scored two runs. Melsha, Lucas Herd and Erik Goetsch also stroked singles in the fifth frame.

Herd would get the mound win. He shutout Norwood, allowed but one hit and struckout four over the final two innings.
