The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive in Gaylord Thursday, June 24 from 1 – 7 p.m. at the Gaylord Legion. The public is invited to participate.
The JC Park Committee will sponsor the event, by paying for the use of the Legion for the bloodmobile.
According to the American Red Cross, blood donations often decline during the summer due to donors being on vacation or busy with summer activities. However, the need for blood remains constant.
Approximately every two seconds, a patient needs a blood transfusion in the United States, according to the Red Cross. The Red Cross reminds eligible individuals that no matter what your summer schedule has in store, you can be a life saver by donating blood.
Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 years old with a signed Red Cross parental/ guardian consent form for whole blood where state permits, must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.
Eligible donors can call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or go online to redcrossblood.org for more information and to make a blood donation appointment.
