It’s time…to get this pool party started!

May 20th, 2010

Do you know where your swimsuit is? 3-2-1-it’s almost time for FUN IN THE SUN! Join us at the ever-cool Gaylord Pool when we open our doors for this, our 45th (and final for this pool!) summer. We have 76 days to squeeze all the fun into one last summer on this site!

Yup, that is right. Our summer begins on Mon., June 7th and concludes on Sat. morning, Aug. 21st when we will close our door at 7:30 a.m. After that, at this pool, you can swim no more! Wow, was that ever bittersweet for me to say, but HEY, it is the price of progress and we must move ahead and keep the Gaylord Pool continuing. We are just going to be switching to the Second Edition, so to speak!

This Friday, May 21st, all the children in the elementary grades here in Gaylord at both schools will be bringing home a yellow flyer with swimming lesson and season ticket information on it.

Then starting this Sat., May 22nd, if you want one, YOUR POOLSIDE VIEW pamphlet will be available in businesses all over that are displaying one of our signature kites!

Look over the yellow flyer and/or brochure and make your decisions! Let the planning for your summer begin!

Registrations will be accepted through the mail only up until Memorial Day weekend. After that, we will be around the pool at various times throughout the day. But—I need to warn you—there are Pool Task Force meetings, Park Board meetings, CPR and 1st Aid trainings for the entire staff, etc. that will take me away from the pool. So, use the phone and give us a call. When I return, I will call you back, answer your questions and get your lessons scheduled or your family’s Season Ticket set up for you! We can’t wait to see you. Join us this summer!

We have soooo many fun activities planned for this summer. There is something for everyone!

And to answer the question posed by my two little out of town friends who stopped in with their daddy to see me this past Sunday afternoon, “YES, the fish are coming back!”

After Memorial Day weekend, Big George, Ike, Mike and all their girlfriends will be back at the ever-cool Gaylord Pool swimming in their pond and providing us all with lesson motivation, “Learn to swim like our fish do” and/or exercising motivation, “Have you ever seen an unfit fish??? Well, you won’t cuz’ they know how to use the water to get an effective work-out each and every day!” Our fish are soooo smart and so popular! Come and see them and us, this summer here at the ever-cool Gaylord Pool!
