Children and adult volunteers from ages 5 to 105 are invited to help package food for the needy.
Gaylord will be hosting the fourth Kids Against Hunger packaging event Wednesday, April 7 at the Gaylord American Legion. The public is invited to participate by volunteering or to give monetary donations to help purchase ingredients for packaging.
Packaging will take place in two shifts, from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. and from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Each package of food costs 90 cents and will feed six people. Fox example, a $75 donation will help feed 500 people.
Due to the economy, the Gaylord event will only be able to package as much as has been collected in donations. It is the goal to raise $7,000 at the Gaylord event.
Donations are welcomed from individuals and various organizations either prior to or the day of the packaging event. Checks should be made payable to Kids Against Hunger and may be sent to Vicki Boerner, P.O. Box 773, Gaylord, MN 55334.
The Stewart satellite of Kids Against Hunger is a 401(c)3 nonprofit organization. All donations are use to pay for ingredients and packages. The Stewart organization is operated by John Neisen. All labor, equipment and administration efforts are provided by volunteers.
