Wow! Tuned in on the Cable Channel #8 last Wednesday evening for the Gaylord City Council meeting and was sure surprised about the time spent on the street project, on the surveying of the street, and much time spent on soil boring bids. I was sure shocked about the recommendation that our City Administrator gave to the Council that we accept the high bid. It seems to me it would be in the best interest of the taxpayers to take the lowest bid when there are reputable firms bidding the project. I don’t believe the City has the kind of money to just give away to the highest bidder. I questioned the bidding process on our first street project so was happy to see City Council members Chad Muchow and Pat Pinske step up to the plate this time. They are saving the City money which I believe was lost in past projects. We can all play the game but everyone has to play by the same rules.
