County Board approves purchase of a generator
July 2nd, 2009Sibley County Commissioners, last week, voted 4-1 to purchase a generator to serve the County Courthouse. Commissioner Charlie Woehler cast the lone dissenting vote.
Commissioners accepted the recommendation of Jon Suedbeck, owner of Sibley Electric Inc. of Gaylord, to purchase a 275 kW generator and switch from Blue Star Power Systems, Inc. of Lake Crystal. The bid was $63,000 plus applicable taxes.
Commissioners also accepted a proposal from Sibley Electric Inc. for setting and connecting the generator for a cost of $36,764, which includes all inspections, taxes and labor.
Sibley County had included $90,000 in its budget for the generator project.
In other business, the County Commissioners:
• Approved a request for Sibley County Public Health to charge $10 per car seat for low income families. Sibley County has requested 60 car seats because of the new car seat regulations that took effect July 1, requiring booster seats for children less than four feet, nine inches tall.
• Approved a request from Sibley County Public Health to charge $15 for lead tests for those without insurance or with inadequate health insurance.
• Approved a request from Sibley County Public Health to charge a $45/hour consultation fee for private pay case management services.
• Authorized extending an unpaid leave of absence to Tara Mershon, Human Services social worker, through Aug. 28, 2009. Mershon was injured in a car accident this winter.
• Authorized advertising for a full-time, limited term financial worker for Sibley County Human Services. The financial worker would temporarily fill the position held by Mary Lastine, who was injured in a motor vehicle accident this winter.
• Approved a joint powers agreement with the State of Minnesota to allow the State to retain the Senate recount ballots at their location.
• Approved 3.2 malt liquor “on sale” licenses for the Gibbon Sportsmen’s Club, Severance Township; Gaylord Game Protective League, Dryden Township; Winthrop Golf Course, Cornish Township; and Shady Lane Sportsman’s Club, New Auburn Township.
• Renewed contracts between Public Health and Minnesota Valley Health Center, Le Sueur for adult day care services; Purfoods/Mom’s Meals, Ankeny, IA for home delivered meals; Lutheran Social Services, Moorhead, for companion services and home delivered meals; McLeod Cooperative Power of Glencoe for supplies and equipment; South View Living Center, Gibbon for customized living services and respite care; Good Samaritan Society, Winthrop for home delivered meals and respite care; Green Isle Community School for school health services at $35/hour, and Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital-Mayo Health system for hospice services.
