City receives offer to buy Heritage House
July 2nd, 2009An offer to purchase the former Heritage House building will be considered by Gaylord’s City Council in a special meeting Wednesday (today) at 5:30 p.m.
According to City Administrator Kevin McCann, the City has received an offer of $120,000 for the building and adjacent lots. It is a 3,588 square foot facility with with four lots measuring approximately 45’ x 150’ each.
The former Heritage House facility served as a residence for people suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. It was acquired by the City in March as part of the nursing home sale.
Residents and employees of the Heritage House relocated to the Oak Terrace Health Care Center of Gaylord (formerly Lakeview Home). That facility has the capacity to house 18 residents in its new memory care unit.
According to the offer on the Heritage House facility, the potential buyer has requested to lease the property for $800/month beginning in July, 2009 until the closing date. The proposed closing date is March 1, 2010.
The proposed offer also states that the buyer will occupy the property and agree to pay for all utilities, lawn care, snow removal and other maintenance requirements. According to the offer, the seller will continue to insure the property during the lease period.
Hebeisen Real Estate was recently hired by the City to sell the former Heritage House. The agent suggested a listing price of $119,900.
The former Heritage House is located at 716 Sibley Avenue. It was constructed in 1993.
