Train Derailment –

Two railroad cars, filled with soybeans from Echo, derailed about four miles west of Gibbon Thursday about 1:45 a.m. According to Tim Jeske of the Minnesota Prairie Line, the derailment occurred due to defective rail. No one was injured in the derailment. FitzSimmons Service Company Inc. of Montrose provided the emergency service to clean up the soybeans after the spill. This is only the second derailment on the Minnesota Prairie Line. The first one occurred Dec. 23, 2005 near Green Isle.
