Two area townships held annual meetings
March 19th, 2009Two area townships held their annual meetings last Tuesday, while most postponed them to this week due to the snowstorm.
Transit Township, which held its meeting in the afternoon, set its levy at $54,000 for general and $47,000 for road and bridge. In 2008, the levy was $70,000 for general and $31,000 for road and bridge.
The moderator who leads the meeting will be paid $10. The gopher bounty was set at $6, the same as before.
The township also reported that Gaylord is considering a new fire truck.
New Auburn Township set its levy at $33,000 for fire, $85,000 for road and bridge, and $37,500 for general. Township residents also authorized that postcards be sent to voters, to notify them of the annual meeting in March.
