City asking for your help in choosing a slogan
January 22nd, 2009Barring any recount, the City of Gaylord will have a slogan for its community sign within a few weeks.
Two months ago, City Council members announced that they would like the community’s help in determining a slogan for Gaylord. More than 60 suggestions were submitted. Council members narrowed the suggestions to 17 and are now asking for your help in choosing a winner.
According to City Administrator Kevin McCann, Gaylord’s current slogan, The Hub of Sibley County, was most popular among council members. Another popular one among the Council was A Place to Call Home.
All 17 options can be found below. Official ballots are available at City Hall, Jerry’s Home Quality Foods, the Library, or the Post Office. Voting Ends February 9 The City plans to end voting on Monday, February 9th.
Plans are to place the winning slogan on a community sign which will soon be erected on the southeast corner of Gaylord’s new mini-strip mall development on Main Street. In August, the City Council approved the purchase and installation of a community sign which will be visible from two sides. Scenic Sign Corp. of St. Cloud was awarded the project, submitting a bid of $26,029.
According to City Administrator Kevin McCann, the sign will serve as a community message center announcing all events in the City of Gaylord.
Along with a message center, the sign will have a top cabinet. This symmetrical top cabinet will include the name Gaylord with the City’s tree logo and a spot for a slogan.
