Freezing rain Saturday produced a sheet of ice on many streets and sidewalks. There were several reports of cars in ditches throughout the weekend and walking on sidewalks proved dangerous. Trying to keep sidewalks safe Monday proved to be a challenge as salt at many area stores was “sold out.” More freezing rain is predicted for later this week followed by bitter cold temperatures next week.
