Sibley East cage teams will play in holiday tourney
December 24th, 2008There is a two week break from classes at Sibley East but there will be no rest for the Wolverine cagers.
Both the Sibley East boys and girls will head west again this year to compete in the 13th annual Hometown Bank Holiday Tournament at Redwood Falls.
The tournament, to be played at Redwood Valley High School, is scheduled for December 29th and 30th.
Sibley East’s boys’ team is the defending champion. The Wolverines, on Michael Schultz last second shot, defeated host Redwood Valley in the opening round last season. They went on to rout Lakeview in the championship game.
Sibley East’s Lady Wolverines finished third in the tournament a year ago. They fell to eventual champion Redwood Valley in the first round then bounced back to defeat Madelia in the third place game.
Both the boys and the girls fields are the same this year. The schedule for the tournament is as follows:
Monday, December 29th
3:00 – Redwood Valley vs. Madelia (girls);
4:30 – Lakeview vs. Sibley East (girls);
6:30 – Lakeview vs. Sibley East (boys);
8:00 – Redwood Valley vs. St. James (boys);
Tuesday, December 30th
3:00 – Third Place game (girls);
4:30 – Championship game (girls);
6:30 – Third Place game (boys);
8:00 – Championship game (boys);
