Vehicle fire being treated as a homicide

The Sibley County Sheriff’s Department has identified the victim of a vehicle fire in Washington Lake Twp. as Daniel Juarez, 42, of Chaska. They are treating the investigation as a homicide, but the cause of death is not being released at this time.

The vehicle has also been identified as a black 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, with ladder racks on the roof and satellite installer signs on the doors.

The vehicle fire was reported by a neighbor at 4:20 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. The fire occurred in a wooded area near the intersection of Sibley County Road 61 and 351st Avenue, about two miles east of Green Isle.

The vehicle was engulfed in flames when a deputy arrived with the Green Isle Fire Department. After the fire was extinguished, a body was found inside of the vehicle.

Assisting the Sibley County Sheriff’s Dept. are the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Carver County Sheriff’s Dept., Chaska Police Dept., and the Burnsville Police Dept.
