Sibley East Superintendent to step down June 30, 2009
November 20th, 2008Sibley East Public Schools will need to search for a new Superintendent of Schools for the 2009-2010 school year.
Superintendent John Langenbrunner presented a letter to the Board of Education Monday night, to inform them of his intention to step down and not pursue renewal of his contract for the 2009-2010 school year.
Langenbrunner has served as Sibley East’s Superintendent of Schools since July 1, 2005. He has been Sibley East’s second Superintendent of Schools. The first superintendent, Charles Rick, served the district for 10 years.
In the letter, Langenbrunner expressed appreciation to the Sibley East School Board, the dedicated staff at Sibley East, and to every student and community member that touched his life during his service to the Sibley East School District.
“With persistence, passion and perseverance our district has accomplished much. I only vision a bright future for the Sibley East School District and look forward to my remaining days at Sibley East,” he wrote.
Although Langenbrunner has served as Sibley East’s Superintendent since July 1, 2005, he retired under the “Rule of 90” provision with the Minnesota Teacher Retirement Association effective June 30, 2007.
Since that time, he has continued his employment under a private contract.

Hello,
I enjoy reading the Gaylord Hub Online. I think there might be a slight typo in this article/ mis-information. Nordy Nelson was acutally the first superintendent when Gaylord, Arlington, and Green Isle merged to become Sibley East. We actually were the class which voted on what the colors (black and yellow) and the mascot (Wolverine) would be, and Nordy Nelson was our Superintendent! Thanks.
