The scoop about the Big Dipper and much more

WCCO Radio meteorologist Mike Lynch gave those attending a library program here Monday a glimpse of what makes up our universe. Lynch led a discussion which eventually concluded at Walsh Field. That is where aspiring astronomers had the opportunity to peek through Lynch’s 20” reflector, one of the the biggest mobile telescopes in the upper midwest. Lynch is pictured above in the left-center portion of the photo (glasses and stocking cap). More than 100 people attended the program “A Night with the Stars,” which was presented by the Friends of the Gaylord Library. Support from a chili feed, a membership drive, and Thrivent funds raised approximately $800 for the library during the event. Lynch’s visit was made possible by Thrivent Financial and a Minnesota Book Awards Grant.
