New mobile home park ordinance to be reviewed

October 30th, 2008

A new proposed mobile home park ordinance will soon be submitted to the League of Minnesota Cities for review.

Troy Bonkowske, EDA coordinator, has been working on updating the present mobile home park ordinance.

Chuck Klimmek, EDA president, explained that the mobile home park is not cash flowing now. The new ordinance would seek a lower density of units in the park. Gaylord’s Housing Committee believes that the city should talk to private developers, to see if they would be interested in creating a new mobile home park here.

Klimmek said that another housing market that seems to be lacking in Gaylord is rental homes that have two or three bedrooms.

Once the proposed ordinance is reviewed by the League of Minnesota Cities, plans are to present it to Gaylord’s Planning and Zoning Commission for consideration.

In other business, the EDA:

• Learned from Bonkowske that an attorney representing an out-of-state business has inquired about the Entegris building in the industrial park.

• Was informed by board member Shirley Meger that Pro Landscape Maintenance is interested in constructing its own building on the east edge of town. Bonkowske plans to arrange a meeting.
