New Auburn will have race for city council seats

A race has developed for New Auburn City Council. Three people have filed for two positions.

Craig Lowden is challenging incumbent candidates Mike Hauan and Jim Stark for City Council.

Long-time New Auburn mayor Roger Becker is unopposed for the position.


A race has developed for treasurer in Dryden Township. Sonya Meyer, who was appointed to the position last spring, is being challenged by Laura Storm. Incumbent supervisors David Ruehling and Ron Otto have filed for re-election.

Incumbents have filed for the other township offices.

In Alfsborg Township, David Asmus and Ed Anderson filed for supervisor, and Kevin Madsen filed for treasurer.

In Kelso Township, Maurice Buck and Lyle Wiest filed for supervisor, and Fred Latzke Sr. filed for treasurer.

Curtis Kahle and Duane Henke filed for supervisor in Sibley Township. Karl Dietz filed for treasurer.

Arden Kuehn filed for supervisor in Transit Township.

Melvin Dahlke filed for supervisor in New Auburn Township.

Filing closed Sept. 9 for the city and township positions. The positions will be filled at the Nov. 4 general election.
