One local race will be part of Tuesday’s Primary
September 4th, 2008Three area precincts – Gaylord, Dryden and Sibley Townships – will have a local race in the September 9 primary election.
Residents of the these precincts will vote to narrow the field of candidates for the District three Sibley County Commissioner from five to two. The candidates are Mark Brandt, James Flantz, Karl Kuphal, Jim Swanson, and Dan Uecker. Leo Bauer, who has served as the District three commissioner for 18 years, did not seek re-election.
Gaylord residents will vote at the Sibley East School main gym, on the west side of school. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Dryden Township residents will vote at the Gaylord Fire Hall, while Sibley Township residents will vote at the Sibley Town Hall. Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Residents in other Sibley County precincts will also have to cast their ballots for other nonpartisan and partisan races. There are two other nonpartisan races, for two Associate Justice positions with the Supreme Court.
For the State Partisan Primary ballot, voters will have to choose candidates from the Independence Party, Republican Party, or the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. Voters are not allowed to cross party lines in the primary election ballot.
Polling hours for the other Gaylord area precincts are as follows:
City of New Auburn - New Auburn City Hall from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Alfsborg Township - Alfsborg Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Kelso Township - Kelso Town Hall from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
New Auburn Township - New Auburn Township Hall from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Transit Township - Transit Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
