So to me, it is clear…that you all had better get down here and go for a swim! The Gaylord Pool will be closing its door for the summer of 2009 next Wednesday night, August 27th. After that night, there will be swimming down here no more…until next summer (Opening Day 2009 is Monday, June 8th cuz’ Sibley East doesn’t graduate until Sunday, June 7th!)

LESSON UPDATE
We just started yet another Mini Session of lessons this past Monday. We don’t have a grand total yet, but we are close to tying our 2006 record of 781 students. That in itself is amazing as this spring, with our cool, rainy weather and the high price for gas, I was wondering how lessons would go.

But taking swimming lessons is obviously a high priority for the parents around here. So, from far and near, lots of folks came to take lessons…right HERE!

To all of them we say THANKS and “keep on swimming.” It’s an invaluable life skill to know how to do and to be able to do well!

HELP!
This year we have amassed a list of over 100 adults who regularly or semi-regularly used our Gaylord Pool for at least part of their fitness program.

We had more lap swimmers than ever before and we had aqua class participants in record numbers too!

And so we now need your help…drink MILK! Why? The dairy farmer’s daughter that I am will tell you it’s good for you and besides, we need YOU to bring us your 1 gallon empty milk jugs!

We are fussy too. We only like the square 1 gallon KEMPS jugs for our exercise classes (they have a wider handle and grips). And so I say, bring them to us. We are collecting for now and next summer too! Can you help us here?

B.A.C.K.
Just yesterday we went and made more copies of “B.A.C.K.,” the history of our ever-cool Gaylord Pool!

We told this story with songs, dancing and lots of swimming in this year’s pool show.

Daily we are having folks stop in at the pool who would like a copy. In fact, we’ve even gotten phone calls and e-mails requesting copies of our 47 page booklet.

CONFOUNDED
Our LOST and FOUND is over-flowing. It has us confounded at times how so many articles of clothing can get left at our pool! So as September dawns and you realize that you are missing some item, if you think you might have worn it to the pool, give us a call or simply stop down and look through our huge mound of unclaimed “STUFF”!

LOOKING AHEAD
When the doors of the pool close for this summer, we are already looking ahead to next summer when we will “GET on the BALL…we are here for you all…until the FALL…when lots of folks will come to town to play BALL!” Quite the line, huh?

But with the Design Team coming to town September 4 - 6 and then State Baseball tournament coming to town next August, we have lots to look forward to!

Besides these events, the XWINOS and PIGS will both be back for their respective week-ends out at the POW WOW GROUNDS.

The American Cancer Society has already announced that the Gaylord Park will be the site for the RELAY FOR LIFE again next summer (the 3rd Friday night in June).

The EGGstravaganza Committee is already fired up and looking ahead to putting together another great event for next summer! And “YES” is the answer to little Nick Messner’s comment. Daily at the pool he asks me “Are you going to hide another GOLDEN EGG????” He wants me to get busy and “just do it” so he and his family can go out and look for it!

See there are lots of good times ahead for us all to look forward to!

This week in the HUB we have also made a “CLIP and SAVE” ad for the pool as we look ahead to the Summer of 2009. We have already started to set up our schedule and have mapped out our lesson program’s scheduled dates so find this ad, clip it out, post it on your refrigerator and start looking ahead to the summer of 2009 with us!

THE FINAL SPLASHDOWN
