Electrical line hearings to be held in Arlington
August 14th, 2008Two route options for a proposed electrical transmission line will be presented at nine public meetings throughout the state.
One of the meetings will be held Thursday, Aug. 21 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Arlington Community Center.
This electrical transmission line is one of three 345 kilovolt lines proposed by CapX 2020, a joint initiative of 11 transmission-owned utilities in Minnesota and the surrounding region. The utilities plan to file an application for a route permit for the Brookings, SD to Southeaster Twin Cities transmission line project with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission in late fall.
The open house will include maps that display two proposed route options. The public is invited to stop anytime to provide comments about the options. No formal presentation is planned.

Utilities involved in the CapX 2020 project are Central Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, Dairyland Power Cooperative, Great River Energy, Minnesota Power,. Minnkota Power Cooperative, Missouri River Energy Services, Otter Tail Power Company, Rochester Public Utilities, Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, Wisconsin Public Power Inc. and Xcel Energy.
