Relay For Life Friday in Gaylord City Park
June 19th, 2008Sibley County will hold its annual Relay For Life, a fundraiser of the American Cancer Society, at the Gaylord City Park Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21. The public is invited.
The event will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday and conclude at 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
Mary Ann Nelson of Winthrop was selected as honorary chairperson for the event.
Cancer survivors will be honored during the opening ceremony at 7 p.m. All cancer survivors, no matter what length of time, are asked to participate and celebrate.
The lighting of the luminaries will be held at the baseball field at 9 p.m. Luminaries may be purchased in the roller skating rink, or by contacting team members. In addition, luminary forms are also available at the banks in Sibley County. Luminaries may be purchased in honor of or in memory of someone.
Entertainment will begin at 2:30 p.m. Music will be provided by “Thunder N’ Lightning.” The Smart Shop and silent bowl/pail raffle will be held in the roller skating rink. There will be dance contests, team fundraising, games and food.
