Maxine Zellmann – 74

Maxine Zellmann, age 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30th, 2008 at Hilltop Haven Nursing Home in Grayson County in Gunter, Texas.

A native of Excelsior, she graduated from Excelsior High School and completed her nursing degree at the College of Saint Catherine in 1954. She met and married Robert K. Bandemir in 1955 and settled in Gaylord where she took a position as a registered nurse at the Gaylord Clinic. She and her husband, a coach and guidance counselor at Gaylord High School, raised two sons.

Maxine served as a Gaylord City Councilwoman for two consecutive terms starting in 1984; and was the first woman to be honored with the “Service to Mankind Award” from Gaylord’s Sertoma Club. She spent many years as an active member of the ambulance team in Gaylord, and finished her career as an assistant to attorney Douglas Nesvig in his legal practice.

Maxine Zellmann was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Bandemir, who passed away in 1973, her second husband Leo Zellmann, former manager of Gaylord’s Legion Club, in 1985, and her parents, Raymond E. Seamans and Elinor Seamans-Kerber.

Maxine is survived by her two sons, Robert Jr. and wife Robin of Alpharetta GA, Scott and wife Geri of Sherman, Texas; four grandchildren, Jessica, Robert III, Anastasia, and Samantha;her sister, Emma Lou Brown; and a host of relatives and friends who will be able to reminisce about Maxine for years to come.

Per her last instructions, Maxine will be cremated and interred next to her husbands, Robert (Bob) and Leo, during an informal ceremony and celebration on her 75th birthday, Saturday, July 19, 2008. Family and friends will notified at a later date.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, any memorials be sent to Home Hospice of Grayson County, P.O. Box 2306, Sherman, TX 75091, who were so kind and attentive to her during her final months.
