City Council’s “First Lady” dies in Texas
June 5th, 2008Maxine (Bandemir) Zellmann, the first woman to serve on the Gaylord City Council, died May 30 in Texas. She was 74.
Mrs. Zellmann was elected to the council post in 1984. She served two four-year terms. Mrs. Zellmann had been a Gaylord resident since the mid-1950s. When her health began to fail, she moved to Texas, where a son Scott lives.
She reportedly died peacefully at a Gunter, TX nursing home. A memorial service will be held here on her 75th birthday, July 19th.
