A Happy ending! Abby Flantz is shown here with her parents, Kathy and Jim Flantz of Sibley Township, at Denali National Park headquarters shortly after being rescued. Approximately $38,000 was raised at Sibley County’s Relay For Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The event was held at the Gaylord City Park Friday and Saturday, June 20-21. Gaylord firefighter Travis Grack (left) raised funds to fight cancer at the State Firefighters Convention earlier this month in Alexandria. He challenged the firefighters that if he would raise $300, he would shave his head, and if he raised $1,000, he would wear a dress to the dance that evening. Grack raised $1,197. Grack served on the Denny’s Crew Team and was also a Mr. Relay candidate. Grack is shown with his father Dennis (right), a cancer survivor who is Gaylord’s retired fire chief.
