A day to remember fallen comrades

May 29th, 2008
Nearly 300 people attended Memorial Day programs Monday in Gaylord and New Auburn. Gaylord’s program was held at the Veterans’ Memorial in the City Park. Bill Walsh spoke first and honored the memory of Gordon Evers who was a decorated war veteran. Ray Kuphal was then recognized for his 60 years of membership in the American Legion. Sibley East’s Junior High Band also performed before Gaylord High School graduate Todd Iverson delivered the Memorial Day address.
New Auburn VFW members Anthony Deno and Amy Eustis provided a symbolic tribute during the Memorial Day program. Craig Nehring, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn, gave the address.
