Memorial Day programs will be presented in Gaylord and New Auburn on Monday, May 26.
Gaylord’s Memorial Day program will begin at 10 a.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial in the City Park. The program will be lead by the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post and Auxiliary. Bring your own lawn chairs.
Gaylord resident Todd Iverson, who serves as a lay minister, will give the Memorial Day address. Raymond Kuphal will be recognized for 60 years of membership in the American Legion. The Sibley East Junior High Band will play patriotic selections.
In case of inclement weather, the Memorial Day observance will be held in the Legion Auditorium.
Prior to the Gaylord program, Memorial Day observances will be held by the Gaylord squad at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at 9 a.m. and the Norwegian Grove Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.
New Auburn VFW Post 7266 and its Ladies Auxiliary will present an 11 a.m. program at High Island Cemetery. Those who attend are asked to bring lawn chairs.
A welcome will be given by VFW Post Commander Willard Grack. Amy Eustis will provide an invocation.
The Memorial Day address will be given by the Rev. Craig Nehring, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Auburn.
Musical selections will be provided by Glencoe-Silver Lake High School students.
VFW Post members will give a symbolic tribute. A wreath will be placed by Phyllis Schwanke, Auxiliary president.
A roll call of deceased veterans will be read. A military tribute will be provided by the New Auburn VFW Rifle Squad. Taps will be played by Glencoe-Silver Lake High School students.
