May 22nd, 2008

Sibley East Public Schools has received 23 applications for the high school principal position, according to John Langenbrunner, superintendent of schools.

The deadline for applications was Friday. The vacancy is being created by the retirement of Jim Swanson, who has served as principal here for 19 years.

Plans are to narrow the field of candidates to four by Friday, May 23. The finalists will be asked to provide written responses to questions, which will be due May 30. Interviews will be held Monday, June 9, with the goal to have a final decision Friday, June 13.

The interview committee will consist of Langenbrunner, principals Mari Lu Martens and Steve Harter, along with board members Brian Asmus and Anne Karl. Staff and community members have yet to be selected.
