Gravel road dust coating will cost more this year

April 17th, 2008

Rural residents who choose to have their township/county road dust coated along their property will have to pay more for the service this year.

Sibley County Commissioners, last week, set the rate at $90 per 100 feet for a 20 foot wide strip. The 2007 rate was $81 per 100 feet.

Darin Mielke, County Public Works Director, recommended the increase in fee. The cost of the product used for dust coating has increased 10% from one year ago, he said.

The dust coating product will be purchased from Dust Coating Inc. for 76¢/gallon. Last year the county was charged 69¢/gallon.

To sign up for the service, contact the Sibley County Public Works Department or go to the Web site. Information about dust coating will be advertised in upcoming weeks.
