Grand opening Saturday at Gaylord’s new Library

The grand opening of Gaylord’s new and expanded public library will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 424 Main Avenue, Gaylord’s former City Hall. The public is invited to attend. Activities and events include a scavenger hunt, visit by Buzz the Bee, demonstrations of the Young Explorer Learning Center, visit by PG Panda and Giovanni the Organ Grinder.
Story tellers will perform every half hour starting at 9:30 a.m. There will be prizes, games, and refreshments will be served.
Remodeling the former city hall into the public library began last fall. The library moved to its new location the end of February.
The new library has approximately 6,800 square feet. The City of Gaylord was a warded a $471,910 grant from the Minnesota Department of Education, half of the construction cost, for the project. The city committed up to $471,910 for remodeling the City Hall into the public library.
Shelving and lighting from the old Barnes and Noble store in Mankato were removed and donated to Gaylord’s new library. More information.
