2,200 attended High Island Rodeo

Less than ideal weather conditions didn’t keep people away from the High Island Arena Rodeo in Jessenland Township this past weekend. According to rodeo coordinator Kathy Biron, approximately 2,200 spectators attended the sixth annual event. Rodeo participants entertained the crowd with bull riding, bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping and barrel racing. Another crowd favorite was the mutton bustin’, an event where youngsters ride sheep.

Eric and Don Swenson shot these wild boars last month near Lake Moorehaven, Florida. According to Swenson, each boar weighed approximately 100-pounds.
