Children using the new Gaylord Public Library

It was a busy first day for Gaylord’s new library, which opened to the public on Monday. Youngsters flocked to the library following school and were all smiles as they entered the new facility. According to City Administrator Kevin McCann, a Library Grand Opening event is scheduled for April. There will be a formal grand opening the evening of Friday, April 11th. A grand opening for the public is planned on Saturday, April 12th, McCann explained.

Palacios scores big win at Sibley Boxing Showdown

Sibley Boxing Showdown

Approximately 200 people attended the Sibley Boxing Showdown held Saturday at the Sibley East Junior High gymnasium in Gaylord. Mario Palomin, of the Gaylord-based Palomin’s Boxing Club, coordinated the event which featured eight bouts. Palomin said the Sibley Boxing Showdown was a success and he hopes to bring another event here in the future. Mario Palomin started Palomin’s Boxing Club in Gaylord in the summer of 2007. There are currently ten boxers in the club ranging from nine-years-old to 22. Continue reading »
