Mortgage foreclosures in county doubled in two years
January 31st, 2008The number of mortgage foreclosures in Sibley County has doubled within the past two years.
In 2005, there were 28, and in 2006, the number of foreclosures grew to 40. In 2007, the number grew to 55.
That information was presented in a report, prepared by the County Auditor’s Office, for County Commissioners last week.
The City of Arlington lead the way with the most mortgage foreclosures - 11, or one-fifth of those in the county.
The City of Henderson had 8 mortgage foreclosures, Winthrop - 7, and Gibbon and Green Isle each had six. There were four in Gaylord and two in New Auburn.
Among Sibley County townships, Henderson Township had the most mortgage foreclosures with four. There were two each in Arlington and Faxon Townships, and one each in Bismarck, Grafton, and Washington Lake Townships.
There were no mortgage foreclosures in Alfsborg, Cornish, Dryden, Green Isle, Jessenland, Kelso, Moltke, New Auburn, Severance, Sibley, and Transit Townships.
Most of the mortgage foreclosures were on homes, the Auditor’s Office reported.
During 2007, the Auditor’s Office transferred 1,772 parcels of property involving 1,655 documents. The Auditor’s Office collected $6,190 in fees for delinquent tax and special assessment searches.
