Two juveniles charged with felony for threats

December 27th, 2007

Two juvenile males have been charged with making terroristic threats to injure Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop school staff and students. This charge is considered a felony offense under Minnesota law.

The incident occurred two weeks ago.

District Court Judge Richard Perkins, wrote in a news release: “while the allegations are serious, it is important to note that no weapons were found on the juveniles nor on school property.”

As agreed upon by the County Attorney, counsel for the juveniles, and the District Court, the juveniles have been released to the custody of their parents. The juveniles are subject to a number of conditions, including electronically monitored house detection.

“Due to the age of the juveniles and in accordance with state law, at this time no further information will be disclosed on the matter,” Perkins wrote.
