County elected officials to receive 5% salary increase
December 27th, 2007Sibley County’s elected officials will receive a 5% salary increase for 2008, which includes a 2% cost of living adjustment and a 3% step increase.
Commissioners approved the salaries by resolution Wednesday.
The salary for County Attorney David Schauer was set at $73,121.89, a .80 full time equivalent position.
The four remaining elected officials - County Auditor, Recorder, Sheriff and Treasurer - are all full-time employees. The salary for Auditor Lisa Pfarr was set at $63,035.66. Recorder Kathy Dietz will earn $48,853.40. Sheriff Bruce Ponath will earn $79,844.59. The salary for Treasurer Mary Fisher was set at $52,528.99.
County Commissioners received the same salary increase as other elected officials - 5%, which includes a 2% cost of living adjustment and 3% step increase. Their annual salaries were set at $22,062.70.
Committee per diems were kept the same as last year, with $40 for a half day, up to four hours, and $80 for a full day.
In other business, the County Board of Commissioners:
• Hired Jessica Schmidt as a part-time registered nurse in the Public Health Department, effective Jan. 7, 2008.
• Accepted the resignation of Ann Stark, part-time home health aide in the Public Health Department, and authorized recruiting to fill the position.
• Renewed 2008 tobacco licenses for the following businesses: Arlington - Arlington Liquors, Inc., Quick Shop/Subway, Cenex Convenience Store, Quast Amoco, Neisen’s Bar, Jerry’s Home Quality Foods; Gaylord - Amdahl’s Bar & Grill, Inc., Jon’s Amoco, Casey’s, United Farmers Co-op C-Store, Len’s Service, Neisen’s Bar, Jerry’s Home Quality Foods, K & W Stores of MN, Inc.; Gibbon - United Farmers Co-op - Gibbon C Store; Green Isle - The Country Corner, Black Sheep Tavern; Henderson - Wagar’s Red Owl, Neisen’s Bar; New Auburn - TC Hahn Convenience Store, Dicky Bobs; Winthrop - United Farmers Co-op - Winthrop C Store, Kevin’s Market, Eagles Landing Bar & Grill Inc., TC Hahn Country Convenience Store, Tanker Bay Sports Bar & Grill, Inc.
• Adopted the regular county board meeting dates for 2008. Meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 8, the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from Jan. 22 - Oct. 28, 2008; Wednesday, Nov. 12 because the second Tuesday falls on the Veterans Day holiday, and the second and fourth Tuesdays from Nov. 25 - Dec. 23. All meetings start at 9 a.m.
• Approved a resolution of support to have the Minnesota Design Team come to Gaylord to help with downtown revitalization.
