SE non-certified employees to have 2.5% salary boost

Sibley East’s Board of Education, last week, approved a two-year contract with the district’s non-certified employees.

According to the agreement, there will be a 2.5% salary increase or advance one step be given in each of the respective school years, including the bus driver base pay for regular routes. The non-certified contract includes the 10-12 month employees, bus drivers, nine month employees, and Early Childhood Family Education non-certified employees.

The agreement reached will cover the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years.

Other contract recommendations that were agreed upon include:

• Effective July 1, 2007, all 10-12 month, 9 month and confidential employees who have been employed more than 10 years with the Sibley East Schools receive two days per year of pay for the first 10 years of service, and three days per year of pay for each year beyond 10 years for retirement pay. Retirement pay for those working less than full time will be pro-rated.

• Effective July 1, 2007, nine month paraprofessionals be reimbursed at 80% of the employee’s daily rate for unused personal days. A district claim form must be submitted to the Superintendent no later than the last student contact day of each year for pay.

• Effective July 1, 2007, all 10-12 month employees with more than 10 years of service to the district shall be entitled to the school district contribution of $25/month to a 403B matching fund. Confidential employees shall be entitled to a school district matching fund of $50/month.

• All non-certified employees hired after July 1, 2007, the school district will provide health and hospitalization as follows:

- An employee must work a yearly averaging of 35 hours per week or more to qualify. Those non-certified employees working less than 40 hours per week yearly average but work 35 hours or more shall have their premiums paid on a pro-rata basis.

For the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years, the district will pay 100% single, not to exceed $7,464; 90% two person family, not t exceed $12,447; 80% alternate family, not to exceed $13,569.60; 80% family, not to exceed $14,956.80.

• Effective July 1, 2007, the district shall provide $400 for home office related expenses to the District Technology Director and confidential employees. Bills will be submitted semi-annually to the Superintendent. The fund will not accumulate from year to year.

• Bus driver out-of-town meal allowance was increased from $6 to $6.50 effective Dec. 1, 2007.

• Substitute bus wage for regular route was increased from $28.55 per trip to $29.50 per trip, effective Dec. 1, 2007.

• Set the Braillist non-certified position at $12.50/hour and certified Braillist hourly compensation at $18/hour.
