Norseland – New Sweden News

November 1st, 2007

By Marilyn Olmanson

On Sunday, a complete turkey dinner was made by Pagee Schuette for the whole clan at the home of her granny, Lola, for her mom, Terri Schuette’s, birthday. The whole house resounded with joy! Barney tells me he did the dishes!!

Saturday the 18th, of October, Connor Mitchell Venhuizen, son of Mitchell and Heather Venhuizen was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Henderson. Connor is the grandson of John and Heidi Gilbertson and great grandson of Marvin and Shirley Thoele. Many grandparents attended as did aunts, uncles and cousins.

Saturday Duane and Marilyn Olmanson spent the day at Elkton, South Dakota and attended the 85th birthday party for Norman Williart. They also visited with Ron and Doris Roollefson at Ward, and got a tour of grandson Sam’s new home in Elkton. They then were supper guests of the Williart family at Elkton. Mr. Williart is the uncle of their son-in-law Ron.

Last column–long time reporter plans to retire

Having done the Norseland New Sweden News for many years, I think it is time for me to retire. I appreciate all of the help and support I have had over the years from the community, but you can’t write forever. My health isn’t what it used to be, so it just seems like now is a good time to, “hang up my call letters” of “Norseland New Sweden News Lady” and retire as of November 1, 2007.

Sincerely, Marilyn Olmanson
