Four Sibley East girls clock season best times on Section 2A C-C Meet
November 1st, 2007It was a season best performance for Sibley East’s girls’ cross country team Thursday. Four Lady Wolverines posted personal best marks in the Section 2A Meet at Blue Earth.
Eighth-grader Hannah Miner led the charge for Sibley East. She finished 29th with a clocking of 16:29. That was four seconds faster than her previous best this season. It was 46 seconds shy of the state qualifying mark.
“Hannah ran really well and the section meet was a good experience for her,” Sibley East coach Mike Vrklan said.
Katie Anderson posted the second best time for the Lady Wolverines. She finished 56th with a mark of 17:28.
Sibley East ninth-grader Rachel Ling followed with an 82nd place finish. She clocked a time of 18:05, 43 seconds faster than her previous best this season.
Senior Becky Eustis also chased down a season best time for the Wolverines. She placed 87th with a mark of 18:05. Eustis’ previous best this season was 18:22.
Sibley East’s Sarah Hendrycks improved her season best time by four seconds on Thursday. The ninth-grader placed 88th in the section with a time of 18:29.
The top ten finishers and top two teams in the section qualified for the state meet which is Saturday at Northfield.
Sibley East finished 13th in the 19 team, 133-runner Section 2A competition. Fairmont and Blue Earth Area qualified for state finished first and second respectively.
Medalist honors Thursday went to Mankato Loyola’s Dani Stack. The senior blitzed the field with a time of 14:58.
