An ordinance setting policies and procedures for utility billing and collection in New Auburn will be found in the Public Notices.
The new ordinance holds property owners liable for payment of utility bills whether or not the owner is the occupant or the property is rented.
Utility bills will be mailed each month between the 10th and 15th, with payment due by the end of the month. Penalties for late payment are to be established by the City Council. The ordinance specifies that unpaid utility bills will be certified to the Sibley County Auditor for collection with taxes.
The city’s policy for discontinuance of service is also spelled out in the ordinance that repeals Ordinance 102.
